Essays From Roscrea

Essays from Roscrea, a new book by George Cunningham, will be launched in Ryan’s Bar, (formerly the Auburn Lodge), Templemore Road Roscrea on Thursday, October 1, at 8pm.

The book will be launched by John Lupton, Chairman RCDC. Published by Parkmore Press for Roscrea People, it is a limited, signed hardback volume of around 150 pages containing articles and essays written over a 50-year period by George C. Many have been unpublished and others have appeared in local limited booklets or were written for events or launches or as forewords or introductions. They mainly cover the counties of Tipperary, Offaly and the Burren region of Co Clare. They embrace a wide range of topics from education to art, from landscape to history, biography and autobiography, heritage tourism and local studies.

Essays is the first in a series of Roscrea Record Memoirs. Hopefully, others will deal with bibliography, Roscrea Heritage, Tree Notes and Travels and Public Service at UL, 1992-2009. Any profit from the publication will go towards the cost of the large monograph on Monaincha, which hopefully will be published in the first half of 2027.

Copies will be available at a reduced rate during the launch. Afterwards, copies may be purchased at Dimma Books, SVP, Roscrea.
