A new solution for your pain
Do you have pain or a persistent medical condition that hasn’t gone away, despite numerous visits to your GP, tests and courses of medication?
It might be time to seek a different solution. Chiren Therapy Centre is a family-run service newly opened in Nenagh, one that targets underlying stress and trauma as the root cause of physical and emotional ailments that many people are suffering from.
Based on the more than 40 years’ experience of founder Dr Alvaro Ramirez, the team at Chiren use a unique form of neuro-physical acupuncture to treat a wide variety of conditions, with proven results.
Originally from Nicaragua, Dr Ramirez holds a diploma in epidemiological surveillance (obtained in Madrid, 1990) and MA in communicable diseases epidemiology (London), 1993 - ‘94. He qualified as a medical doctor in 1986 and subsequently trained as a war surgeon, serving in his country’s army in 1989. He went on to become National Director of the Epidemiological Surveillance System in Nicaragua from 1990 to 1998.
Dr Ramirez had previously studied acupuncture, obtaining his first qualification (in Japanese Acupuncture) in 1984. After marrying an Irish woman, he decided to return to his alternative medicine roots on moving to this country in 2000. He opened his first acupuncture practice in Killaloe that year, later moving it up the Shannon to Ogonnelloe.
Dr Ramirez set up his clinic in Limerick in 2012 and continued to practice there successfully, though he was always on the lookout for a location where he could be more accessible for his clients. When a Nenagh opening came up in part of the former Abbey Machinery complex on Martyrs Road, the opportunity proved ideal.
UNIQUE TREATMENT
Dr Ramirez runs Chiren Therapy Centre with his sons Alvaro Junior and Jose, and daughter-in-law Maria. Patients receive a unique method of treatment that the team has developed on assessing, treating and managing the consequences of trauma and stress caused by chronic buildup of adrenaline, cortisol and other stress hormones in the body. A full spectrum of symptoms – 49 in all – is looked at, and treatment is honed in accordance with the patient’s individual requirements.
Using a combination of AI and a database of knowledge informed by some 4,500 case studies on file, the Ramirez’s have developed their own software programme that enables them to tailor patient-specific treatment and monitor patient progress.
The treatment involves a combination of different types of acupuncture schools from around the world that Dr Ramirez has studied over the decades. He has taken elements of each technique and blended them into his own distinct treatment, one that he has passed on to all of his family working at Chiren.
DEALING WITH STRESS
Early symptoms of stress, such as tiredness, sleep disturbance, irritability and a racing mind, can within a few months manifest as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, IBS, heart problems, and high blood pressure. Left unchecked, these conditions can develop into even more serious problems like self-harm ideation and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The medical profession in general is still trying to understand how these conditions are caused; Dr Ramirez’ own research indicates that unresolved stress and trauma are common factors that often need to be dealt with through non-conventional medical means.
PATIENT EXPERIENCE
Patients attending Chiren Therapy Centre for the first time will undergo a thorough assessment of their condition, background and mental as well as physical health. Acupuncture treatment takes place in the comfort of bright and tastefully furnished private rooms. The treatment is almost painless and the results are almost instantaneous – patients can expect to experience clarity of mind as well as relief from their physiological symptoms.
Dr Ramirez reports that his patients enjoy coming back to look at the graphs on his system, which demonstrate the progress they are making - the symptom trend typically decreasing while energy levels make a steep upward curve.
The Chiren team treat people of all walks of life and every age - from infants to the elderly; Dr Ramirez revealed that his oldest client at the moment is a 100-year-old man whom he visits in Limerick.
The Nenagh-based therapist would like to one day set up a school in North Tipperary so that he might impart his method to local students of acupuncture.
For now, he is welcoming all to make contact with Chiren Therapy Centre on Martyrs Road – E45YR90 – to see what the team can do for you.
