Thurles and Ballina/Killaloe to host Munster training

Throughout the 2026/27 season, the Munster Rugby men’s team will take part in open training sessions in each county in the province.

Dates for the first three open training sessions have been confirmed with Thurles RFC hosting on Friday, August 7th (12pm-2pm), Newcastle West RFC on Friday, August 14th and Ballina/Killaloe RFC on Friday, August 21st.

Supporters will have the chance to watch team training before meeting players and coaches afterwards for selfies and autographs — a fantastic way to engage with the team and show their support.

Connecting with supporters at open training sessions in Ennis RFC, Rockwell College and Castleisland RFC were big highlights of last year’s pre-season training programme and we are looking forward to getting out to meet supporters of all ages once again this year.

New players and coaches have all joined the squad with Munster’s Ireland internationals returning towards the end of August.

Munster Rugby Head of Rugby Development Colm McMahon said: “This is a brilliant initiative and one we’re really excited about as it gives us the chance to bring the men’s squad out to communities right across the province.

“Our clubs play such an important role in the game here in Munster, and these sessions are a great way for young players, families and supporters to meet the squad, watch training and feel part of the wider Munster Rugby community.

“The players and staff love getting out to clubs and connecting with people around the province, so we’re really looking forward to visiting each county during the season.”

Timings for the other open training sessions in Newcastle West RFC and Ballina/Killaloe RFC will be confirmed shortly.
