Awards for local community groups

BnM recognises recipients

BnM recognised recipients of more than €700,000 in community funding and supports at its Community Benefit Fund Awards Evening at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Co Offaly.

The event brought together community organisations, scholarship recipients, fund committee members and local stakeholders to mark the impact of BnM’s Community Benefit Funds, Educational Scholarship Schemes and Near Neighbour supports.

The funding reflects BnM’s commitment to ensuring renewable energy infrastructure delivers lasting social, economic and environmental value in the communities where it operates, while supporting Ireland’s climate action ambitions.

Supported projects span sustainability, education, sports, recreation, social inclusion, community energy, local amenities and community services.

Brendan Connolly, Head of Asset Management and Trading at BnM, said: “Community benefit is central to how BnM develops and operates renewable energy infrastructure. As we expand indigenous renewable projects to support Ireland’s energy security, it is important that local communities share in the long-term value created. Through our community funds, scholarships and near neighbour supports, we are investing in projects that strengthen communities and create opportunities for future generations.”

The Bruckana Wind Farm Community Gains and Near Neighbour Schemes delivered a combined €64,000 in investment, including €54,600 to 16 community groups across Kilkenny and Tipperary and €9,400 in near neighbour supports. Supported projects included Crosspatrick Hall, Moyne Athletics Club and North Kilkenny Community First Responders.

Benedicta Durcan, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager with BnM, said: “At BnM, we believe renewable energy infrastructure should deliver long-term value for the communities in which we operate. These supports help strengthen local initiatives, promote sustainability and recognise the contribution of communities hosting our renewable developments.”

The awards recognised community project recipients and educational scholarship awardees linked to BnM renewable energy developments in Offaly, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
