Teen stole spirits and meat

A young man was convicted of theft at a recent sitting of Nenagh District Court.

On February 3, 2023, Peter Cica (19) of High Drive, Templar’s Hall, Waterford, took two bottles of vodka along with a leg of lamb and fillet of ham in Aldi, Roscrea. Mr Cica, who was with another individual at the time of the theft, checked out a number of items that were in his trolley, but did not pay for a number of items that were concealed in a backpack.

The items, which were never recovered, amounted to €80.78. Mr Cica came before Nenagh District Court with no previous convictions.

The court heard from Solicitor Elizabeth McKeever that Mr Cica was now living in Waterford and was no longer associating with the individuals he was involved with at the time of the incident, and that he was doing his best to move forward with his life. The other individual who was present at the time of this incident had paid for the items that were taken.

Mr Cica was convicted of theft and fined €200 with four months to pay.
