PREMIER DIVISION
Nenagh AFC 1-0 Athlunkard Villa
Nenagh AFC picked up three vital points in the Premier League thanks to a 1-0 win over Athlunkard Villa in Brickfields on Sunday.
The result sees Nenagh leapfrog Villa in the table and more importantly open up an eight-point gap to Corbally who are mired in the drop zone.
It was a depleted Nenagh XI who took the field with a number of youth players stepping up to help secure the win.
The home side were forced to defend for much of the game, and they excelled with Mark Manley and Colm Hayden prominent throughout.
The only goal of the game was scored ten minutes into the second half when goalkeeper Oisin Conacur set Daniel Connolly away on a quick break and the striker unleashed a left footed volley into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Nenagh AFC: Oisin Conacur; Colm Hayden; Mark Manley; Ciaran O'Reilly; Kieran Barr; Pa Steed; Daniel Connolly; Saeed Ryan; B Tracey; Adam Brennan; Aaron Cusack. Subs: Dylan McKenna; Dan Furey.
