Minor Hurlers look to set the tone against Cork

GAA: Electric Ireland Munster Minor Hurling Championship Preview

TIPPERARY v CORK

FBD Semple Stadium

Friday, 17th April

Throw-in @ 7.00pm

Referee: Eoghan O’Leary (Clare)

The Tipperary minor hurlers will look to set the tone for the weekend when they take on Cork in their second game of the Munster Championship on Friday evening.

With the counties meeting on the double in senior camogie and hurling back at Semple Stadium less than 48 hours later, their respective minor teams will be aiming to maintain their perfect starts to the campaign.

Tipperary will be looking to build on their impressive opening round win over Clare while Cork began their campaign last Friday with a gritty 0-12 to 0-9 away win over Waterford in appalling conditions in Dungarvan.

What Tipp manager James Woodlock will have learned from that game won’t be much apart from the spirit shown by Cork to hang onto their lead in the second half.

While the minor championship is in its early stage, already it looks competitive in the race to make the Munster final with four teams with two points on the board, while Clare are already under pressure to avoid being the odd team out when it comes to being one of the four teams to progress to the All-Ireland series after following up their loss to Tipp with another defeat, this time at the hands of Limerick on Saturday, who bounced back from their opening round loss at home to Waterford.
