PREMIER DIVISION
Fairview Rangers 4-0 Nenagh AFC
Nenagh AFC faced defending champions and current league leaders Fairview Rangers minus a number of key players and paid the price, going down 4-0 at the Fairgreen on Sunday.
The scoreline does not do justice to the efforts of the Nenagh XI, who gave as good as they got for much of the game. Visiting goalkeeper Oisin Conacur made a superb save in the opening minutes to deny Yoyo Mahdy.
At the other end, Adam Brennan collected a loose pass and tried his luck from halfway, but his shot dropped inches over the crossbar. Minutes later, another sloppy pass saw Adam Ryan collect unmarked. He played the ball into the path of Aaron Cusack, but his shot deflected just wide off the keeper.
Fairview took the leader a minute later when Tomas O’Connor fired in from close range.
Minutes later, the lead was doubled when sloppy defending allowed Brian Aherne the chance to fire into an empty net.
Just before the break, a good run by Daniel Connolly saw him play the ball across the face of goal but the in-running Brennan just failed to make contact.
Fairview killed off the game after the restart when Ahrne reacted quickest to fire home after Conacur had saved an effort from Adam Dore.
With time running out Conor Kavanagh completed the scoring.
