Cookery demo fundraiser with Eunice
The former dining hall of the Irish Workhouse Centre in Portumna will be transformed with a cookery demonstration featuring celebrity chef, Eunice Power, on Friday, March 27. Supported by the board of the Irish Workhouse Centre, tickets for the event (€35) are now on sale. The aim of the event is to raise further funds to renovate and reimagine this unique space.
We look forward to Eunice invigorating the dining hall space with her well-known commitment to local, sustainable, and high-quality Irish produce. Best known from RTÉ’s Today Show, Eunice is also author of My Irish Kitchen Table, and is both CEO and founder of the Waterford Festival of Food. With over twenty years’ experience in the industry, her hands-on approach to cooking has won her a loyal fan base, most of all in Dungarvan, home to her successful catering business.
Once associated with feeding and sustaining the poor, the current board are planning to open up this building at the workhouse as an event space for the local community and beyond.
Work is underway on infrastructure, heating, staging and seating after generous donations from both local people and many of the diaspora in the US. This is the first event of 2026 after a very successful fundraising campaign last year. Your support for this event helps to preserve and restore one of the last remaining Workhouses in Ireland.
With a welcoming glass of wine, your ticket also offers entry to a super raffle on the night and the opportunity to browse from a selection of local artisan stalls. Kicking off from 7pm this event is not to be missed.
