Nenagh to ‘go green’ on March 17
Spectacular St Patrick’s Day celebration
Nenagh is set to go green this March 17 with an expanded annual St Patrick’s Day celebration featuring a massive lineup of music, food, and family fun. This year’s concert festivities will be hosted by beloved country music star and social media influencer Trudi Lalor bringing her signature charm to the heart of Tipperary.
The 2026 programme promises a high-energy outdoor music concert featuring the best of local talent and headlined by a sensational double-bill. Joining host Trudi Lalor on stage is the legendary Mickey Joe Harte. A household name in Ireland, Harte shot to fame as the winner of RTÉ’s You're A Star and famously represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the anthem ‘We've Got The World’. Most recently, he captivated television audiences once again as a contestant on the 2025 series of Dancing with the Stars.
On Monday, March 16, Nenagh Tourist Office present a special screening of ‘Nenagh: A Town With A Story To Tell’. Praised for its blend of humour, nostalgia and local pride it is a poignant documentary about the people of Nenagh featuring amongst others local figures such as Kitty Shoer, Donal Murphy, Martin Grace, and Kevin Whelan. Produced and filmed by Jack Spain, a music student at Maynooth University. The film originally premiered at the Nenagh Tourist Office in August 2024 as a flagship event for National Heritage Week. Doors open at 6.30pm and admission is free.
Festival highlights inlcude:
- A boutique festival market, a curated selection of local crafts and artisan flavours showcasing the best of the region.
- Family entertainment with dedicated children’s zones, vintage tractor display and special interactive demonstrations hosted by Tipperary Fire and Rescue.
- Gates open at 11.30am.
- Grand Parade: The annual parade will weave through the town centre, celebrating the community’s vibrant spirit. Starting at 1pm the parade sets out from the Nenagh Railway Station, proceeds up Kenyon Street, turns right onto Pearse Street and continues to Kickham Street before arriving at the Banba Square Festival site.
Presented in association with Tipperary County Council, Nenagh Tourist Office, Nenagh Chamber of Commerce and Spain AV this year’s event aims to welcome visitors from across the country to experience Nenagh’s unique festival atmosphere.
Festival Director, David Spain, says: “We’re taking the celebrations to a whole new level this year. With Trudi at the helm and the addition of a superstar like Mickey Joe Harte bringing that incredible Eurovision and television energy Nenagh is the only place to be this St Patrick’s Day for a true parade and festival experience.”
