Witnesses sought over burglaries

Gardaí are appealing for witness information after several burglaries were carried out in the local district in recent days.

These included an aggravated burglary reported in Cloughjordan village at around 10.20pm last Saturday. It is understood that the occupant returned home and disturbed a number of individuals that had entered the property. A second break-in occurred in the Coolbawn area on the same night.

Another burglary was reported at Ballyhaden, Borrisokane, at 2.30am on Monday last. Again, a number of intruders were disturbed and they fled the scene.

Gardaí arrested a male following a break-in and attempted theft of items at a business premises in Roscrea on Saturday. The suspect was questioned at Nenagh Garda Station and has since been charged with burglary offences.

Meanwhile, gardaí on mobile patrol in Nenagh town in the early hours of Tuesday morning of last week seized suspected cannabis when they stopped a vehicle. The drugs had a value of €850, subject to analysis; a sum of cash was also seized. One suspect was arrested.
