Killaloe-Ballina bridge monument commemorating the Scariff Martyrs

Award for Killaloe national schools

In 2025, as part of a Creative Clusters Art programme, Killaloe Boys NS, and Killaloe Convent Primary School created a short film, where they used a crankie box film-making method to depict the local Civil War story of The Scariff Martyrs.

This film was entered in the national Films in Schools competition, and on Thursday February 12, at the 20th anniversary of the annual FÍS fil awards in the Helix in Dublin, was awarded ‘Outstanding Achievement in Film-making Originality’.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls, their teachers, and Lynn Kenny, involved in this great achievement!
