Michelle Aylward, CEO of County Tipperary Chamber; Sarah Fogarty – outgoing President of County Tipperary Chamber; John O’Shaughnessy – new President of County Tipperary Chamber.County Tipperary Chamber has confirmed the appointment of John O’Shaughnessy, Managing Director of Clancy Construction, as its new president, following the formal handover at the Chamber’s President’s Lunch held at the Anner Hotel, Thurles.
John succeeds Sarah Fogarty, who has completed her term as president, having provided steady leadership and continuity for the organisation during a period of ongoing economic and business challenge.
Speaking following his appointment, John O’Shaughnessy set out a clear and focused agenda for his presidency, centred on confidence, delivery and strong, consistent representation for business across County Tipperary.
“Confidence in business is not about ignoring challenges — it’s about facing them honestly and still choosing to invest, to employ and to build for the future,” John said.
“Across Tipperary, businesses are doing exactly that every day.
As president, my priority is to ensure that the voice of business is clearly heard, consistently represented, and matched by action at both local and national level.”
Clear Priorities for the Year Ahead
Under John O’Shaughnessy’s presidency, County Tipperary Chamber will focus on a defined set of advocacy priorities that reflect the issues raised most consistently by its members, including:
- Housing, infrastructure and planning certainty
- Progress on the N24 and the Thurles Bypass
- Local and regional transport
-Strong, active towns that support business growth and employment
These priorities will guide the chamber’s engagement with Government, public representatives, local authorities and key agencies throughout 2026.
Leadership, Continuity and Collaboration
Outgoing President Sarah Fogarty was acknowledged at the recent event for her leadership and contribution during her term.
County Tipperary Chamber CEO, Michelle Aylward, welcomed John’s appointment, noting that his presidency comes at a critical time for business confidence and regional competitiveness.
The president’s lunch also featured a panel discussion on Leading with Confidence: Business, Growth and the Future of Tipperary, with contributions from leaders in finance, skills and enterprise, reinforcing the Chamber’s role as a practical, business-led voice for employers across the county.
County Tipperary Chamber represents businesses of all sizes and sectors and works to promote enterprise, influence policy and support sustainable economic growth throughout County Tipperary.
