Old Ballina bridge open for St Patrick’s Day parade
Following representations made to Tipperary and Clare County Councils by local councillors, you will be delighted to read that Ballina-Killaloe's annual St Patrick’s Day Parade on Tuesday, March 17, will take place on the old Ballina-Killaloe bridge. Following consideration of health and safety requirements, both councils have no objection to the bridge being used by the parade, subject to the following three conditions:
1. No bystanders will be allowed on the bridge while the floats cross.
2. Parade members on foot must be behind floats while crossing the bridge. No one is to walk alongside the floats, especially in the light of the bus incident in Dublin last week.
3. Only when the floats have crossed the bridge, can parade attendees cross the bridge.
Businesses, clubs, schools, residents associations, individuals, are invited to enter a float and make this the best St Patrick’s Day parade ever!
