Court appearance over alleged hijacking

A special sitting of Nenagh District Court was held last Saturday after a man was arrested over an alleged hijacking offence in Roscrea.

The man in his 30s was arrested on Thursday night and detained at Nenagh Garda Station for questioning. He was charged in relation to alleged burglary and hijacking offences, and appeared in court where he was remanded in custody.

Also in Roscrea last week, members of the Garda Divisional Drugs Unit seized a number of cannabis plants on Friday. The seizure has an estimated value of €4,000, subject to analysis. One male was arrested.

A number of thefts of items from cars were reported in the east Clare area last weekend, the incidents occurring in Killaloe, Mountshannon and Scariff. Gardaí are also investigating the theft of registration number plates from a vehicle parked on Borrisokane’s main street on Sunday night.

A burglary was reported in the Ballina area last weekend. It is understood that a shed was entered and a number of tools were stolen.
