Callout to alll young creatives

RTÉ’s This is Art! shares a final call to young creatives all over the island of Ireland as the submission deadline for the art competition closes on January 31st. With a €10,000 prize fund that includes a one-of-a-kind trophy from Maser for first place winners, and artistic support of creative bursaries and materials for all winners.

RTÉ’s This is Art!, supported by Creative Ireland and the Shared Island initiative, is an all-island competition, calling on children and young people ages 0-18 across five categories, including a group entry option.

This year’s theme ‘This is Nature’ offers endless inspiration from wildlife and the landscape, to the magic of the natural world. Young artists are encouraged to express themselves in any medium they choose - from drawing to painting to photography, digital art or upcycled creations. Inspiration can be found by looking at the submissions made so far in the digital gallery: www.thisisart.rte.ie/submissions

This year's panel of judges includes street artists Maser and Joe Caslin, fashion designer Helen Steele, gallery curator Mary Conlon, and ornithologist and author Seán Ronayne. Maser said: “I’m incredibly excited to see how young entrants will interpret the theme ‘This is Nature’. There are only a few weeks left to get your work in, so don’t overthink it, just create! I’m ready to be blown away by the bold, fresh perspectives you’re going to bring to this year's competition.”

RTÉ’s Suzanne Kelly said: “Every year, RTE This is Art! entries continue to amaze us with their creativity. January is the perfect time to slow down, stay indoors, and get creative - so make the most of the chillier weather and let your imagination inspire you. Whether you want to paint, draw, sculpt or work with textiles - your entry is welcome and it's as easy as snap and upload to enter, for more visit rte.ie/thisisart.”

How to enter: Create, snap and upload artwork at rte.ie/thisisart by midnight, Saturday January 31st. Entry is free. For more information visit: www.thisisart.rte.ie
