The Coming of Spring Trad Fest comes to Nenagh from Friday, January 30 to Sunday, February 1, bringing a full bank holiday weekend of the very best in traditional Irish music, song, and dance to the town.

Féile Teacht an Earraigh features session trails, album launches, instrument and sean-nós dancing workshops, concerts, and a late-night Festival Club, with the Abbey Court Hotel acting as the central hub throughout the weekend.

Festivities begin on Friday with a gathering session in the Abbey Court Hotel bar led by workshop tutors Aaron Glancy, Orlaith McAuliffe, Paul Clesham, and Thomas Ahern. Saturday morning sees instrument workshops in Accordion, Fiddle, Flute, Concertina and Banjo from 11am to 1pm, followed by a kids session at 1.30pm and an afternoon and evening of sessions across Nenagh, in venues including Una Powell’s, The Kenyon, Rocky’s, Rohan’s, and The Half Door.

Saturday evening includes an album launch at 8pm with Patricia Clarke, Paul Finn, and Cillian Doheny, followed by the first concert of the weekend at 10pm in the Abbey Court Hotel, featuring Piaras Ó Lorcáin and The Railway Boys, a contemporary Irish folk band known for blending traditional Irish music and song with modern influences.

Sunday begins with a Rince ar an sean-nós workshop with Ava Glancy at 11am, before another full day of sessions from 1pm to 8pm throughout the town including a teen session in Rockys at 4pm and sessions in The Kenyon, Una Powell’s, Rohan’s, The 44 Bar and the Abbey Court Hotel. The weekend’s headline concert sees the brilliant Four Men and a Dog take to the stage at 10pm on Sunday night in the Abbey Court Hotel, followed by the Festival Club where DJ Ollie Mulloolly will be on the decks to keep the party going! The weekend will conclude with a farewell session at the Abbey Court Hotel on Monday.
