Killavilla remain perfect
CCFL Review
By Gary Culbert
Division 1: The usual suspects were on target as Killavilla made it seven wins from seven games in the First Division of the CCFL. Mullingar Celtic were the visitors to Villa Park on Sunday where the hosts scored five times without reply to stride seven points clear at the summit of the First Division.
A Ben Lynch brace brought his tally to eight for the season while Johnny Corboy netted his fifth. Following injury, Ruairi Murphy is getting back to his usual goalscoring best, his strike against Mullingar was his seventh of the campaign while young Miko Pasalic continued his fine run of form with his third goal in four games.
It’s a big local derby up next for Brian Brooks’ charges, as Killavilla United travel to Birr to take on third place Highfield United. Kick-off is at 11.00am this Sunday in Burkes Hill.
Second Team: In the third division, Killavilla United ‘B’ lost 5-2 away to Stradbally Town on Sunday. Next up for Adrian Elbert’s side is a big home tie against second place Longford Shamrocks. Promotion is not off the cards by any means, a win on Sunday would go a long way to keeping pace at the top of the table. Kick-off is at 2.00pm in Villa Park.
Under 19: Killeigh were the visitors to Villa Park on Saturday and came away with a 4-1 win. Next up is a local derby when Birr Town come to Villa Park for a 2.00pm kick-off on Saturday.
Under 17: Killavilla came out the wrong side of a five-goal thriller when they travelled to take on Frankford on Saturday. Next up for Tom Aherne and Ruairi Murphy’s side is an away day to Clonaslee United. Kick-off is at 2.00pm on Saturday at the Clonaslee Community Centre.
