New school for Roscrea
Tipperary Education & Training Board has submitted a planning application for a new 800-pupil secondary school in Roscrea.
The new Coláiste Phobal site development is to include general and specialist classrooms, a general purpose hall, PE hall, offices, staff room, library, sanitary facilities and ancillary spaces.
The development also includes: Demolition of existing school buildings and extensions with the demolition/removal of all existing prefabs from the site; minor alterations to the retained original school building; enlarged school vehicle, pedestrian and cycle entrance from Corville Road with drop-off/collection area, cycle and footpaths, bicycle spaces and 80 car parking spaces.
Further planned are five ball courts, landscaped gardens, and external social space, heat pump and gas storage areas, external stores and bin storage area, landscaping works, boundary treatments, associated drainage, all other site services, site development and all ancillary siteworks.
The application is being considered by Tipperary Co Council and a decision is due by February 20.
