Good news for Garrykennedy
Conditional planning permission for an outdoor recreation infrastructure scheme at Garrykennedy inner harbour was granted by an Coimisiún Pleanála in December.
Welcoming this at the December meeting of Nenagh Municipal District, District Administrator Rosemary Joyce said funding opportunities will be considered in order to progress the proposals for which permission has been granted. Cllr John Caroll was also heartened by this news for Garrykennedy, saying there were a lot of concerns with the condition of the inner harbour.
The scheme will involve the clearance of the inner harbour, including abandoned boats. The existing boardwalk is to be replaced with modern floating pontoons for 47 small boat berths. Further works will include the facilitation of four recreational vehicle parking spaces with power and water points, as well as provision of bike parking and charging facilities. The new inner harbour is to provide a space for day boat commercial businesses to drop and collect boat passengers.
