Former Nenagh teacher begins a new chapter

St Joseph's CBS Secondary School in Nenagh was delighted to share before Christmas that Ms Laura Kearney has been appointed Deputy Principal of Scariff Community College, Co Clare. She took up her new role after the Christmas holidays on Monday, January 5:

As we say goodbye, we want to express our sincere thanks for everything she has brought to St Joseph’s CBS Nenagh since joining the staff in September 2001. Her passion for German and music has shaped countless learning experiences—both in the classroom and far beyond it.

From German exchanges to Music & Dance Extravaganzas, from impromptu lunchtime performances to leading the Christmas Jumper Day singalong, Ms Kearney has filled our school with creativity, culture and joy.

She has also been a driving force behind many school musicals and supported students who went on to perform on stage and screen. Her involvement with Nenagh Choral Society encouraged so many young people to discover a love of performance. She even composed an album to celebrate 150 years of the CBS in Nenagh - a legacy that will remain part of our school’s story.

As a member of our middle‑management team, Ms Kearney has carried out numerous roles with dedication, including Year Head, House Exam Coordinator and School Self‑Evaluation Coordinator.

A wonderful colleague, an inspiring teacher, and a true leader - Ms Kearney will be greatly missed by staff and students alike. We wish her every success in the next chapter with Scariff Community College.
