Recycled decorations at Nenagh school

St Mary’s Primary School, Nenagh, celebrated our annual Green Schools Recycled Christmas Decoration Competition last week.

As always, the standard was incredibly high with hundreds of entries. The children were asked to make a decoration from recycled material that would otherwise have been thrown out.

Imagination and innovation were required and as always, the pupils came up trumps! The school welcomed in our parents to view the exhibition of the decorations in the school hall on Monday and Tuesday, December 8 and 9. We were thrilled to see so many of our parents coming in to view the wonderful display from our talented pupils.

This is the first year where the decorations were exhibited to the parents, and the public. We are so lucky to have such a supportive parent body.

A big thank you to Olive Kilgannon for her work in showcasing the exhibition. Classes were invited down to the school hall to view the entries. The judges had a very difficult job selecting winners from all the entries.

A winning decoration was selected from each class based on use of recycled materials. However, all the children who participated are winners and were awarded with a certificate.

Well done to all the pupils of St Mary’s, where Green Schools always comes high on the agenda! A very happy and green Christmas to our pupils and parents alike.
