Tipp award for outstanding humanitarian work
Dr Mohammed Abu Mughaisib, Deputy Medical Co-ordinator for Médecins Sans Frontières, who was in charge of operations for the international medical charity in the Gaza Strip, will receive the Mary Swords Memorial Award from Tipperary Peace Convention at an event in the Tipperary Excel, Tipperary Town, on Friday December 12, at 11am.
Dr Mughaisib will receive the award during a Tipperary Peace Convention event titled 'Reflections for Christmas'.
The MSF doctor is being recognised for his outstanding humanitarian and medical work, during his time working in the Gaza Strip.
The event on Friday will include reflections, readings, poetry, music and song, especially for the Christmas season, with a special emphasis on peace.
Senator Tom Clonan and Senator Patricia Stephenson, will be amongst those who will contribute reflections to the event, along with representatives from the Religious community, Trócaire, and the Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation. St Ailbe's School Choir and Rockwell Music Academy will provide music for the occasion.
At the event the shortlist of nominees for the 2025 Tipperary International Peace Award, will be announced by the honorable secretary, Martin Quinn.
