Time change sought for Nenagh gaming centre

A company planning to open a gaming centre in Nenagh has submitted a new application seeking to change the permitted hours of opening.

Coalquay Leisure Ltd received permission earlier this year to change the use of an existing commercial shop unit (formerly Quik Pick) on Silver St to a gaming centre on the ground floor. Tipperary Co Council imposed a number of conditions, including a stipulation that the opening hours of the centre be restricted to 9am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday.

The Cork-based company, which operates a number of gaming and amusement arcades around the country, has since submitted a new application in which it informs the council that such a restriction would make its Nenagh plan “unviable”. Coalquay is seeking to have this condition amended to “10am to midnight daily”.

“The proposed revised opening hours will not result in any injurious impacts on Silver Street or the town centre of Nenagh,” according to the company’s agent, Moneygall-based Ruairí Gleeson Planning & Design Services.

The council is to decide on the new application by January 27 next.
