Relatively kind League schedules for Tipp teams
By Shane Brophy
Tipperary hurling and football supporters can get planning their schedules for much of the 2026 season following the release of the GAA’s Masters Fixtures plan last week.
The fixtures for the Munster Championships have yet to be confirmed but the dates and times for the National Hurling & Football Leagues have been released.
HURLING
As mooted, Tipperary senior hurlers will host Galway in their first division 1 game on Saturday, 24th January at 7.00pm, likely to be on television.
They will also have home games against Limerick in round 4, with the visit of old rivals Kilkenny wrapping up things on the final day on Saturday, 22nd March.
Tipperary’s schedule is kind with their bye round coming in round 4 meaning a spread out conclusion to the league after a busy start with three games in as many weekends, heading to Tullamore to play Offaly in their first away game on Sunday, 1st February with the National League/All-Ireland Final rematch against Cork on the following Saturday at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The format of the league remains unchanged with the two bottom teams relegated, with the top two teams progressing to the final on the first weekend in April, two weeks before the opening round of the Munster Championship.
GAELIC FOOTBALL
Tipperary senior footballers will have the benefit of four home games in the 2026 National League division 4.
The Niall Fitzgerald era will begin abroad with Tipperary travelling to London in round 1 to take on the exiles whom they have failed to beat in their last two league encounters, a draw in London in 2024 and a defeat in Semple Stadium earlier this year.
Tipperary’s first home game will be the following Sunday against Antrim who were relegated from division 3 with home games also against Carlow, Leitrim, and concluding against Waterford on March 22nd.
All of Tipperary’s home games have been scheduled for FBD Semple Stadium, after two of their three home games in 2025 were played at Clonmel Sportsfield.
