Arts Centre date for Mick Creagh

Popular performer Mick Creagh brings his unique, fun show to Nenagh Arts Centre on December 12. Singer, poet, storyteller, and recipient of Laois Person of the Year award; Mick Creagh, will be bringing his one-man show to Nenagh Arts Centre on Friday, December 12, at 7.30pm.

‘C’mere til I tell ya a good one’ is a refreshingly heartwarming evening of stories, music and guaranteed uproarious laughter.

For the past 50 years now, retired farmer, Mick Creagh, has been a very visible part of the fabric of life in his native parish of Rathdowney/Errill in southwest Laois. It would be no exaggeration to say he’s practically a legend there.

The Rathdowney pantomime, an event that has been a fixture in the town from the 1980s and is currently in its 37th year, was originally written and directed by Mick and retired GP Dr Niall Doherty.

Mick has written and directed over 30 pantomimes, each one a huge success and vital patch in the handmade quilt of the local cultural scene. If you don’t know Mick from his pantomime performances, you might have come across him drumming with The Winos, singing and playing the bodhrán, treading the boards in numerous plays and films, reciting his poetry or taking part in crime reconstructions on RTÉ! Mick has, to say the least, lead a varied life.

This variety show of life has given Mick endless material to weave together and relay a few good ones.

Mick draws inspiration for his songs, poems, and stories from his home place and the characters that fill it.

A storyteller with one eye on the past and the other firmly on the present, Mick’s show is truly a unique and unmissable evening of entertainment. He likes to get his audience involved…so beware!
