Denis Hogan sent out two winners for owner James McAuley at Dundalk on Friday evening.

The pair teamed up with Joey Sheridan to take the six-furlong handicap with the 13/2 chance Dontspoilasale which was repeating his win in the same race a year ago. Then trained by Ado McGuinness, he scored by three and a quarter lengths that day and remarkably the now five-year-old recorded exactly the same winning margin when easily beating his own stable companion, Sporting Hero, this time.

The owner and trainer followed up straight away as 6/4 favourite Badger’s Cove scored a clearcut win of his own in the eight-furlong nursery handicap. Colin Keane was in the saddle as the strong favourite headed Andy Oliver’s Manifest Destiny over a furlong out to score by two and a half lengths.

The great run of success being enjoyed by David Marnane continued as the two-year-old Gavoo scored a battling win in the opening six-furlong conditions’ race. Owned by the A Touch Of Leather Syndicate, the well-supported 5/2 chance was brought by Luke McAteer from the rear of the field and he got up in the final stride to pip Danny Murphy’s Sovereign Cry by a shorthead with the Josh Hally-trained Whatchadoin two and a quarter lengths back in third place.

The Nathan Crosse-ridden No More Kisses scored the widest-margin win of the evening in the concluding 10-furlong handicap. Trained by Andy Oliver, the 4/1 chance headed the Andy Slattery-trained odds-on favourite Ducker a furlong out and raced clear to win by all of five and a half lengths.

Harry Swan was on the mark as Gordon Elliott saddled three winners, highlighted by the success of Kalypso’chance in the Grade 3 John Lynch Carpets & Flooring Monksfield Hurdle, at Navan on Sunday.

Set off at odds of 3/1, the Jack Kennedy-ridden five-year-old put a disappointing first effort over hurdles at Down Royal behind him as he scored a comfortable one and a quarter-length win over Paul Nolan’s The Big Clubman. Elliott was winning the race for the sixth time in seven years.

The trainer’s day had started well as the Danny Gilligan-partnered 13/8 favourite Barbizon scored a taking win in the opening three-year-old maiden hurdle. Like Kalypso’chance, he sported the Gigginstown House Stud colours and was well on top in beating Noel Meade’s Ben Hur by four and a quarter lengths with Wackestone, trained by Elliott and ridden by Jack Kennedy, two and a quarter lengths away in third place.

The Francis Mangan-owned Oldschool Outlaw completed Elliott’s treble with a six and a half-length success in the concluding bumper. Ridden by Harry Swan, the 2/1 favourite led over two furlongs out and was soon clear to beat Stuart Crawford’s Royal Hillsborough.
