Seasonal spike in burglaries

Gardaí are warning that burglaries tend to become more prevalent at this time of year, as evidenced in several recent break-ins in the local area.

A house was broken into at Stoneyacre, Cloughjordan, last Friday. Entry was gained through the rear of the premises. Back-door entry was used in another break-in to a house at Coole, Toomevara, between Friday and Saturday last.

A third break-in was reported at Ballyquirke, Lorrha, last Saturday evening. Damage was caused inside the property.

Gardaí are urging home and business owners to ensure their properties are properly secured and to immediately report any suspicious activity.

Nenagh district gardaí were involved in a countywide investigation that led to the arrest of a burglary suspect in Clonmel on Tuesday of last week. The suspect was questioned in relation to burglaries across Tipperary, including Roscrea and the Templemore area. He has since been charged and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, with further charges likely.

Elsewhere, gardaí responded to a report of two horses loose at Dromin Road, Nenagh, last Wednesday. Tipperary Co Council was engaged with on the matter.

There were also two suspected drink driving arrests in the last week, one at Toomevara on Wednesday, the other at Kilruane on Thursday.
