‘Ireland of a Thousand Goodbyes'
Lorrha Dorrha Archaeological & Historical Society’s next talk in its Winter Series will be presented by our own David Broderick.
The title of this fascinating talk is, ‘Ireland of a Thousand Goodbyes. Memory of Mass Emigration in the Irish Landscape’. While numerous Irish people had been emigrating long before the Great Famine, this most devastating and dark period in Irish history triggered millions more to hastily leave the country, the majority never to return.
This presentation will attempt to follow a typical Irish emigrant from their doorstep to the gangway through a series of associated sites along their heart-breaking journey.
The talk will take place on Friday, November 21, at 8pm at The Shed in The Friar's Tavern, Lorrha (E45 V651). Admission: €5. No booking required.
