Nenagh World Aid Society winter collection
Nenagh World Aid Society was founded in 1966 by a local man, John Darmody.
Since its inception it has been sending aid to lay and religious people, with a Nenagh connection, working in some of the world’s poorest regions, in developing countries and elsewhere.
The Society is run by a small group of 14 voluntary members living in Nenagh and has normally been able to grant up to €15,000 annually, all of which has been donated locally. It will celebrate its 60th birthday next year - solid testament to the wonderful, valued support it has always received from the generous people of Nenagh over the years.
The Society is funded through donations, bequests and its summer and winter collections.
The winter cash and cheque collection takes place in Nenagh town and before all Masses next weekend, Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16. No amount will be considered too small - especially, when one considers that small amounts of money in Ireland are generally more valuable in the developing world.
Alternatively, donations may be made to the Bank of Ireland. The society can be contacted by email: dilmat52@gmail.com.
