Junior ‘C’ Hurling Championship: Congratulations to Ballina who claimed back-to-back North Junior 'C' Hurling titles last Saturday after an exciting 3-14 to 1-17 final victory over Silvermines. See match report.
Under 21 'A' Hurling Championship: The championship began last Sunday.
Group 1 opened with an exciting draw in Ballina, where the home side faced Borris-Ileigh.
Borris led 2-11 to 0-12 at half-time, with the impressive Eoin Boyle netting their first goal before an excellent finish from Paddy McCormack extended the lead.
Borris maintained their advantage for much of the second half, but Ballina struck late — converting a last-minute penalty to level the game and secure a draw after an entertaining contest.
Round 2 will take place on Sunday 2nd November at 12 noon with Nenagh Eire Og hosting Ballina.
Group 2 got underway with Toomevara recording an impressive 2-26 to 0-13 victory away to Roscrea.
Toomevara led 0-13 to 0-9 at half-time and stretched their advantage to nine points midway through the second half.
Two goals in the space of a minute — a penalty from Darragh McCarthy followed by a strike from Cody Quirke — sealed a comfortable win for the Greyhounds.
The second-round fixture will take place on Sunday, 26th October, at 12 noon in Dolla, where Silvermines will host Roscrea.
Under 21 'B' Hurling Championship: The championship began last Sunday.
In Group 2, Kilruane MacDonaghs recorded a comprehensive 5-24 to 0-9 victory over Ballinahinch-Templederry in Cloughjordan. The home side were dominant from the outset with Michael Cleary opening the goal scoring early on and adding a second soon after.
Brian O’Meara and Charlie Kennedy also found the net as Kilruane led 4-15 to 0-3 at half-time. Michael Hennelly completed the goal scoring in the second half to round off an impressive display.
Kilruane MacDonaghs will face Kiladangan in Puckane on Sunday 2nd November at 12 noon in the second round.
A youthful-looking Newport side opened Group 3 with an impressive 6-24 to 0-17 victory over Lorrha Rovers. Newport were on top throughout, leading 3-14 to 0-12 at half-time, and they carried that dominance into the second half to secure a comprehensive win.
Portroe will host Newport on Sunday 2nd November at 12 noon in the second round.
The Group 1 Round 1 fixture between Burgess and Moneygall/Clonakenny will take place on Sunday, 2nd November in Kilcolman.
Junior 'A' Football Championship: The Final will take place this Friday, 24th October at 7.30pm in Puckane where Burgess will take on Kilruane MacDonaghs.
Under 15: Congratulations to Toomevara and Burgess on their County U15 Hurling title victories last weekend.
Toomevara captured the ‘A’ title on Saturday with an impressive win over Moycarkey/Borris, while Burgess secured the ‘B’ title on Sunday with a hard-fought three-point victory against Ballybacon/Grange.
