Children’s Book Festival in Nenagh

Nenagh Library launched this year's Children's Book Festival with a Very Important Man and a Very Big Man.

County Librarian, Damien Dullaghan, welcomed everyone to the library and reminded the children of the very special festival that we celebrate every October - the Children's Book Festival. He thanked those who lend their support to the festival - the Tipperary Creative Ireland Fund, Tipperary Arts Office and Poetry Ireland.

He then went on to introduce a Very Important Man, An Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Cllr John Carroll, to officially open this year's Festival. We were so pleased to have an Cathaoirleach present and speaking to children from Gurtagarry NS And St Mary's No 2 school, Cllr Carroll talked of the joy of reading and how easy it is to join your local library.

But while he may have been a Very Important Man, the children, Junior Infants to Third Class, had just spotted a Very Big Man, and they wanted to meet him! The BFG did not disappoint, talking to everyone, telling them about the book that's all about him and letting them sit on his giant chair, which of course the children loved.

All in all, a great start to our festival, which will run in our libraries and schools thoughout the county for the rest of the month.
