Mairead O’Brien with ‘Bobbie’, the overall Champion Dog of the Show and judged the Best Large Dog, and Dog with the Waggiest Tail.

Annual dog show is great success

Canines on display in Birdhill

All shades and sizes from the tiny to the majestic were paraded around the show-ring by their proud owners and handlers as they vied for the coveted rosettes to be awarded at the annual Dog Show at Birdhill.

Challenging task

It was a challenging task for Anna Crowe who had the unenviable job of deciding the most deserving of the honour on the allocation of the much sought after colourful rosette.

The entries came from near and not so near, all groomed to perfection to look their best with their handlers making sure that they were shown to best advantage as they moved around the judging ring.

A good outing

It was a good outing for Bobbie, exhibited by Mairead O'Brien and being judged the Best Large Dog, and Dog with the Waggiest Tail, before adding cream to the collection of awards with the top honour of Overall Champion of the Show.

Majella Foley-Friel showed Nala in colourful attire to win the Best Fancy Dress Dog, while Ann McLoughlin's Nala was judged Best Small Dog, and Cora Floyd's Buddy was judged the Best Golden Oldie.

Young handlers were to the fore also with the honours in the class going to David Hanly.

Enjoyable day

At the end of the show there wasn't a prize for everyone, but all had an enjoyable outing, and the dogs were all very well behaved and obedient to the commands of their owners and handlers.
