VIP for the launch is Ireland’s number one multi-award-winning Elvis tribute act, and European champion, Ciaran Houlihan, who will be performing on the night.

Exhibition by Nenagh Street Collective

An exhibition of photographs by people living in Nenagh and surrounding areas will go on show in the corridor of Nenagh Arts Centre from October 1 to 31. The event is free and suitable for all ages.

The event is being curated by The Nenagh Street Collective, a group of mainly local photographers and other visual artists who come together to share their interest and learn from each other.

The exhibition will feature a total of 29 photographs that explore the theme Éist, the Irish word for listen. The collective delves into the profound relationship between sound and imagery to develop photographs that you not only look at, but that you can also hear. This exhibition intends to explore the connection between voice, self and community.

Through the medium of photography, the collective demonstrates the importance that creativity has in conveying current cultural values, legacy for future generations, identity and wellbeing, and the importance of inclusion and holding space.

The exhibition is a participatory experience, and all attendees are invited to bring smartphones to unlock audio reflections and soundscapes that accompany the photographs. It is vital to maintain a spirit of silence whilst interacting with the exhibits.

Headphones or earbuds will allow you to listen in private, without distraction to you or to others, and connect more deeply with the experience, acknowledging that some truths are only felt when we really listen.

The VIP guest for the launch is none other than Ciaran Houlihan. Ciaran has performed globally and is Ireland’s number one multi-award-winning Elvis tribute act. He will be, ‘in the building’, and performing on the night. This is a free event, and all are welcome.
