Toastmasters are back!
Nenagh Toastmasters held its first meeting of the season on Tuesday, September 2.
Our President Marie O’Sullivan warmly welcomed everyone, especially the new guests on the night.
Tony Spain then took the realm as Toastmaster of the evening and gave us a quote from Aristotle to ponder on – “The more you know you know, the more you know you don’t know”. Tony guided us through the meeting with ease and humour.
Our Topicsmaster of the evening was Donnachda Shannahan. Donnachda entertained us with a great array of topics from “Do you believe in ghosts” to “World letter writing day” to “Your Dream Holiday”.
Our timer on the night Eibhlin Maher kept us on track with time and Aksana Sidarchok, our Grammarian, gave us very helpful feedback on our crutch words. General Evaluator of the evening was Joanne Callanan and Joanne gave high praise for the meeting.
The two speeches on the night were given by David Healy on “The New Brian Ború Bridge” and Willie Grace gave us a speech called “Something you may not know”. The two speeches were very interesting and informative.
John Spillane in his role as Vice President, Education, gave a talk encouraging members to connect with Pathways and plans for year ahead.
Conor Boland did a great job in his new role as Sergeant at Arms.
Toastmasters is a wonderful social club, as you will see when you visit our club. There is a great mix of ages and from all walks of life.
Toastmasters helps us not just to build confidence in public speaking but we also build friendships. Why not come along to a meeting and experience a Toastmasters welcome. Guests are always welcome and will not be asked to speak.
Next meeting is on Tuesday, September 16, in the Abbey Court Hotel at 8pm.
