Nenagh Players offer Cash on Delivery

Nenagh Players are gearing up for their autumn production in Nenagh Arts Centre, beginning with an open night for auditions on Monday, September 15, at 7.30pm in The Store, Hanly's Place (beside Cinnamon Alley).

The Players will stage Michael Cooney's riotous farce Cash on Delivery in the arts centre in November.

Cash on Delivery tells the calamitous tale of Eric Swan (aided by his Uncle George and unbeknown to his wife Linda), who has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent welfare claims. When Norman Bassett (the lodger) opens the door to Mr Jenkins, the welfare inspector, deceptive mayhem follows — as do the undertaker, bereavement counsellor, psychiatrist, Norman's fiancé, a corpse, the ominous Ms Cowper and, not to mention, a rather rebellious washing machine. This hilarious and fast-paced comedy, which requires a cast of six males and four females, is full of mistaken identities, slamming doors and a con that spirals out of control, has all the ingredients to ensure audiences have a rib-tickling evening.

The Players will also welcome those to the auditions who might be interested in taking part in any aspect of the production, from backstage, lighting, sound or costumes to front of house.

Cash on Delivery, which is being directed by Kevin Walshe, will run at Nenagh Arts Centre from Tuesday, November 11, to Saturday, November 15.
