David Power appointed as new Tipperary Senior Ladies Football Manager

Tipperary LGFA has announced the appointment of David Power as their new Senior Ladies Football manager.

The appointment was ratified at a meeting of Tipperary Ladies Football County Board on Monday night.

David Power brings with him a remarkable track record of leadership, player development, and championship success across all levels of Gaelic football.

A highly respected figure in both men’s and ladies' football, David has consistently nurtured talent and delivered results throughout his managerial career.

The Kilsheelan/Kilcash clubman is best known for guiding the Tipperary Senior Men’s Football team to a historic Munster Championship title in 2020 — the county's first in 85 years. During his tenure as senior manager (2020–2023), he also led Tipperary to promotion from Division 4 of the National Football League in 2022.

His earlier achievements include a groundbreaking spell as Tipperary Minor Football Manager (2009–2012), where he led the county to the All-Ireland Minor Football title in 2011, along with back-to-back Munster Minor titles in 2011 & 2012. At underage level, he also secured Munster U17 titles in 2010 & 2011, and the Munster U16 title in 2010.

Outside of Tipperary, David also enjoyed success with Wexford, managing their Senior, Junior, and U21 footballers in 2015 and 2016, guiding Wexford to back-to-back Leinster Junior Football Championships.

Ladies Football Experience

David has strong and growing ties with the ladies' game, having coached the WIT Ladies Football Team in 2018/2019, helping guide them to a Giles Cup Weekend appearance.

He also coached Waterford club Comeragh Rangers in 2018 & 2019, further demonstrating his commitment to the development of ladies football at both club and college level.

Speaking on the appointment, Tipperary LGFA Chairperson Damian Johnston said: “We are thrilled to welcome David Power on board as our new Senior Ladies Football Manager. I thank the County Board delegates for their 100% approval and support of David as he was ratified at tonight’s County Board meeting.

“David’s proven track record, both at inter-county and club level, speaks for itself. His leadership qualities, passion for the game, and commitment to player development make him an ideal fit for this role. We believe he will inspire our Senior Team and ensure they reach their full potential. We look forward to an exciting chapter ahead for Tipperary Ladies Football.”

On his appointment, David Power expressed his excitement at the role: “It is a great honour to be appointed as manager of the Tipperary Senior Ladies Football team.

“Tipperary has always been close to my heart, and I have huge admiration for the talent and dedication within this group of players. I’m really looking forward to working with them, building a strong and united panel, and preparing for the challenges ahead.

“The goal is to compete at the highest level and bring success to Tipperary Ladies Football. I’d like to thank the County Board for placing their trust in me, and I can’t wait to get started.”

David’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Tipperary Ladies Football, as preparations begin for the 2026 season as they look to build on reaching the quarter final stage for the first time in 45 years.
