Are you heading ‘Out the Road’?
Next Sunday evening in Tom the Buck’s will see a unique collection of talented local musicians come together to perform a number of covers, which will bridge generations.
For many years the Temple Bar pub had music every Sunday night before the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic put paid to that. The likes of the Elderly brothers, Away with the Fairies, Willie Fogarty, Dinny Quirke and the Younger Brothers all played regularly, providing great entertainment for those with the musical ear.
The only problem was nothing was being recorded so in 2018 Templemore Local Heritage undertook the task of recording a DVD, which proved a massive success. The footage has also been saved on YouTube so it’s there for all to see.
So popular it was they vowed to return and record the younger generation, so last year the McAuley was once again the venue as Ben Collins, Aoife Kelly, Niamh Kennedy and Ciara O’Brien produced a spell-bounding display.
So next Sunday night will see ‘Out the Road’, as the younger brigade are known, joined by Johnny Keegan, Charlie Ford, Dinny Quirke, Willie Fogarty and Maxi Mooney for a special evening of song. Tickets for this unique gig are just €20 and proceedings will kick off at 6pm. And don’t worry about the weather - Tom’s got everything covered.
So if you’re at a loose end on Sunday evening, get your boots on and head ‘Out the Road’ for what promises to be very entertaining for all.
