Rosemary’s poetry collection
Rosemary Joyce, who many will know as the Nenagh Municipal District Administrator, launched a collection of poetry at Nenagh Arts Centre on Saturday night.
The book is called ‘Whispers From The Shadows’ and is a collection of 30 poems. It is divided into three sections - Echoes of Yesterday - A Soul's Reflection; Fragments of Today - Searching for Self; Whispers of Tomorrow - The Horizon of Hope. The poems reflect on the power of nature, resilience and the challenges of single parenthood. Not being able to sing, these poems are her music, her rhythm.
Author Donal Ryan kindly read from the book and later commented on the book saying: “It is an intensely moving collection, replete with moments of grace that cause the reader to pause and reread to experience again the power of your language. There's a rare generosity at the heart of these works, an attempt to put a grammar on the sometimes ineffable pain and hardship we all endure, and the cleansing, infinite light of hope that we sometimes struggle to see.
“I adore the rhythm and cadence of your work, the wonderful click of your rhymes; it's not often that we're treated to poetry that has such a palpatory, musical rhythm, a beat that corresponds to the beat of our hearts.”
There was a full house on the night and the book is available from The Nenagh Bookshop at a cost of €10. It will also be available from The Bookworm, Thurles.
