The Photo Museum Ireland open call runs until September 30.

Callout to young photographers

Photo Museum Ireland Announces Youth Panel 2025

Photo Museum Ireland has announced a call for six ambitious young people with a passion for photography, aged 16–25, to join its Youth Panel and help shape forthcoming exhibitions, events and digital initiatives. Three panellists will be selected through the open call - running now until September 30 - while three additional members will be nominated by a partner local school. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for the next generation to leave their mark on Ireland’s photographic landscape.

This Youth Panel builds on the success of the Museum’s Student Council programme. Along with other hands‑on education initiatives, such as Teen Summer Camps, and the Young Photographer of the Year awards, now in its fifth year, this initiative underscores the organisation's ongoing commitment to supporting young artists. These programmes have continuously championed fresh talent and nurtured creative leadership across the community.

“This Youth Panel invites emerging creatives to share their perspectives and help shape our artistic programmes,” says Director Trish Lambe. “By empowering the next generation with dedicated mentorship, space to connect with artists and engage with great work, together we can bring innovative projects to life. We’re proud to champion the ideas of these young people and shine a light on the bright future of Irish photography.”

Panellists will gather for regular sessions during the programme, collaborating with artists, curators and educators. They will share feedback on exhibitions, co‑create events and advocate for an inclusive museum experience.

“Through the Youth Panel, young people will collaborate to explore bold ideas that shape key aspects of the museum’s work - bringing new insight to the heart of what we do. We can’t wait to see how their vision sparks fresh conversations around photography in Ireland," explained Vita Ryan, Education Officer, Photo Museum Ireland

Successful candidates gain practical experience, mentorship and free access to workshops and events as part of the programme. Visit photomuseumireland.ie/youth‑panel to apply.
