Lough Derg Yacht Club Regatta 2025
The sun Gods banished the wind on Lough Dreg for the annual Lough Derg Yacht Club (LDYC) which took place from August 11th to 16th.
John Leech, as the Race Officer and his talented team of volunteers, found sources of wind to provided courses even AI could not create, and the full complement of races were completed.
A glorious week with 24 SODS following the lead of the S73 in all races.
David Dickson and his extraordinary sheet hand Anne Leech and third Iseult Hart swept the board of LDYC trophies, of with there are many, including the main prize the LDYC Perpetual Challenge Cup which comes with the IS Championship SOD Class medal.
John White in the S121 came second and the Maloney family in the S76, was third.
The Squib fleet had a variety of events to choose form, Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday with morning and afternoon series.
The Junior fleet was out in force with Dromineer resident Milo Slattery winning the Optimist Clock and Eve Hodgins the PY series in her Lazer 4.7/ILCS4 and Samir Jakulla wining the Optimist Silver fleet.
The LDYC regatta is a family event and saw the junior sailors sailing their laser Picos, Yand RS Feva XL boats.
