Classic cars shine at the North Tipperary Show
By Brendan Murphy
This year’s Nenagh Classic Car Club Show turned out to be one of the best as Classic and Vintage car owners from all over the country turned up in style to display their vehicles at the show on August 4.
The weather warnings in the days leading up to the show had cast serious doubt over the success of the show, but thankfully all doubts were put to bed as the old faithful classic car owners rallied in support of the show and turned up in big numbers.
The Classic Car Display has been a massive success since joining the North Tipperary Agricultural Show in 2014, attracting classic and vintage car owners from as far away as Norway.
It has brought an added attraction to the show, which has helped grow the highly popular agricultural event.
This year, the Nenagh Classic Car Club put out an appeal to have more vintage tractors at the show. As a result, we have seen this section of the vintage display grow impressively.
IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS
This year there was a total of 257 classic and vintage vehicles at the show. There were cars from counties Leitrim, Cork, Roscommon and Donegal, to name a few, as vintage car owners travelled to support.
The variety of cars this year’s was absolutely spectacular and created an amazing display for the thousands of showgoers.
One would have to travel far and wide to see such a variety of cars like this again, but it was all happening right here at Nenagh event.
TROPHIES AWARDED
The show was open to all classic and vintage cars and tractors. There was a special display of 4x4 vehicles as this was the theme for this year’s show. There was also a number of trophies awarded for different categories, including Car of the Show ‘Eric Campbell Cup’ (Judges Choice); Favorite Japanese Car ‘Gerry Sonny Ryan Cup’ (Judges Choice), and Favourite 4x4 in Show (Judges Choice).
