Leaving Cert students to get results today
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless, congratulated students as they received their Leaving Certificate exam results. Minister Lawless said: “I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to all students who received their Leaving Certificate results today. This a moment to be proud of, marking the culmination of years of hard work, learning, and personal growth. Today is not just about results, but about recognising the journey and the support of families, teachers, and school communities.
“Leaving Certificate results day is an important milestone, but it is only one of many in life. For those who are happy with their results, I wish you continued success. For those who may feel disappointed, remember that education is a lifelong journey and there are many different paths to success.
“We are building an education and training system that is responsive and adaptive to the needs of learners. This year there are more pathways and options available than ever before, from the CAO degree routes to Further Education and Training, PLC courses, and a significantly expanded range of apprenticeships with over 70 different programmes available across a wide range of sectors.
“The Student Part-Time Fee Scheme has been expanded to include 111 specified undergraduate courses for the new academic year, up from 62 last year. Part-time students apply directly to higher education institutions, instead of through the CAO.
“We have also doubled the number of Tertiary Degree programmes available this year. There are now 39 different programmes covering a range of disciplines, where students start in a local ETB before seamlessly progressing onto a higher education institution to complete their bachelor’s degree. Applications for tertiary degrees remain open until late September. Importantly, CAO points are not required for entry, instead admission is based on the student’s aptitude and potential.
“Our education system is evolving to meet the needs of a changing world. Irrespective of today’s outcomes, there are many ways to achieve your educational ambitions and many people ready to support you.”
