The History of Lacemaking
Heritage Week Event in Nenagh Library: The History of Lacemaking - Tuesday 19th August @ 6.30pm
As part of our celebrations for Heritage Week, Nenagh library is delighted to welcome local artist, Marina Postir, to the library next Tuesday, 19th August at 6.30pm, to talk about the history of lacemaking, an ancient craft that differs from region to region, both nationally and internationally.
A skilled lacemaker herself, Marina will be showing samples of the variety of lace available, including pieces from Limerick, Headford, Borris, Carrickmacross and crochet lace. She will also demonstrate the art of lace making. We invite everyone to see this delicate craft for them selves and hear of its history.
