Nenagh’s Daryl McCormack who is set to star in the new Pride and Prejudice series on Netflix.

Starring role for Nenagh’s Daryl

The final cast for Netflix’s adaptation of the Pride and Prejudice novel, which will be coming to Netflix as a six-part limited series, has been announced with Nenagh's Daryl McCormack set to star as Mr Bingley.

Thirty-two-year-old Daryl McCormack who grew up in Nenagh, would have been best known in Ireland for his role in RTÉ's Fair City from 2015-2016. He has also had roles in very well known shows such as the BBC's Peaky Blinders series and Apple Tv+'s Bad Sister series. Daryl has also had great success in films such as Good Luck to You (2022), Pixie (2019) and Leo Grande (2022).

This series, based on Jane Austen's book Pride and Prejudice, will be a must watch for those who enjoyed reading the novel.

Novels written by Jane Austen have enraptured generations for over 200 years, but most notably her novel Pride and Prejudice has inspired countless writers and filmmakers throughout its time. It has been extremely well known worldwide for its iconic characters, sharp social commentary and timeless love story.

Dolly Alderton who wrote the series and is an executive producer of the show commented on how the book has been so well regarded by its audience all this time.

The final cast line-up includes:

- Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop) as Mr Bennet

- Freya Mavor (Industry, La Dame Dans L’Auto) will be Jane Bennet

- Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie) as Mr Collins

- Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) will be playing Mr Bingley

- Louis Partridge (House of Guinness, Disclaimer) will be Mr Wickham

- Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) as Lydia Bennet

- Siena Kelly (Black Mirror, Domino Day) will be playing Caroline Bingley

- Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) will be Lady Catherine de Bourg

- Hopey Parish will make her screen debut as Mary Bennet

- Hollie Avery will make her screen debut as Kitty Bennet

There will also be a wide range of other actors joining the cast throughout the series such as Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, Black Mirror), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Benediction) and Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown).
