Darren’s swim for Mary’s Meals

On Saturday, July 26, Darren Dunne, a young man from Nenagh, is organising an exciting fundraising event - all in support of Mary’s Meals.

Mary’s Meals is a global organisation setting up school feeding programmes in the world’s poorest communities. Daily meals are provided in school for children in Africa, Aisa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Darren, who has been training for months to do a 22km swim from Dromineer to Ballina, picked the distance of 22km to match the €22 it takes to feed a child in the developing world in a place of education for an academic year.

These meals, which are lovingly prepared by mothers of the children in school, not only nourish children but also encourage school attendance, giving them education and hope to break the circle of poverty.

We are incredibly grateful to Darren, who has gone to extraordinary lengths to raise funds for this life-changing cause. Your support, big or small, would be greatly appreciated and will help transform a child’s future.

Thank you for helping us make a difference – one meal, one child at a time.
