Nenagh Players stage open night

The multi-award winning Nenagh Players are looking for people interested in taking to the stage to come along to an open night in their rehearsal space at The Store, Hanly’s Place, Nenagh, with a view to taking part in their upcoming sketches for Heritage Week and their autumn production.

The Players, who recently celebrated their 80th anniversary, have a long tradition of staging works ranging from contemporary Irish and international drama to comedies in Nenagh Arts Centre. They have also been part of Heritage Week for the past number of years, producing short sketches in The Store as well as hosting a series of popular dinner theatre nights in local restaurants.

The group have also been regulars on the All-Ireland drama circuit, winning the overall title on three occasions with Trainees, a collaboration with Kilruane Players, and Flight to Grosse Isle. Both plays were written by local playwright Jim Minogue. Their third win was with Dermot Bolger’s April Bright.

As part of the Nenagh Players, actors get a chance, not only to take part in some of the many events that are staged, but can also hone their skills through attending many of the workshops held during the year with fully qualified actors / teachers.

Of course, if you are not sure about being on stage, come along anyway and there are so many ways to get involved in the group, from working backstage, to looking after costumes, lights and sound and continuity. If you have an interest in theatre, there is a role for you in Nenagh Players.

The open night will take place in The Store, Hanly’s Place, Nenagh, on Wednesday, July 30, at 7.30pm.
