Sad passing of popular local men
The late Willie Connors
The parish of Puckaun and surrounding areas were deeply shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Willie Connors, Ballyartella, Ballycommon on July 1. Willie was a well-known and a very popular man and a friend to everyone who knew him. He worked in Procter and Gamble before taking on the role of caretaker at Carrig National school. He had retired last year.
An avid hurling and camogie fan, he rarely missed a Kiladangan game no matter what grade, age or code.
He lined out with many Kiladangan hurling teams, usually at wing forward and wore the number 12 with the Saint Brendans (Kiladangan/Shannon Rovers) minor hurling team that lost to Roscrea in the 1975 North Final. He will be sadly missed by his family, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.
His remains were brought to Ryan’s Funeral home on Friday evening, July 4, with removal to Saint Mary’s Church (Carrig) later that evening where he was received by Fr Willie McCormack, PP of Puckaun, Cloughprior and Monsea.
Following Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Carrig, his remains were brought to Monsea Cemetery where he was buried in the family plot.
Predeceased by his parents Tom and Annie, brothers, Bernard, John and Michael, sisters Kathleen and Ann and his recently deceased brother in law Patrick Seymour.
Sympathy to his sister brothers Breda, Paddy, Tommy, Ollie, Tony and his twin Ger sisters in law, Jean, Ann, Mary and Barbara, brother in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Rest in peace.
Patrick Seymour RIP

Patrick was a very popular man in the community and beyond. He had a very successful concrete business. He came from a well known GAA family and his hurling career spanned the 1970s and 1980s winning a North Intermediate in 1980. Patrick passed away after lengthy illness bravely borne.
