O’Sullivan Beare re-enactment in Cloughjordan
The Last Prince Troupe with their O’Sullivan Beare re-enactment display will make a return visit to Cloughjordan on this Saturday, July 12.
They will set up on the Green on Main Street and give a talk and display on the medieval world of Gaelic Ireland and the epic march of O’Sullivan Beare and his followers from Beara in West Cork to the Breifne area in Cavan and Leitrim, which commenced on December 31 in 1602.
Through vivid storytelling, passionate poetry and a hands-on display section, explore the world of Gaelic Clan life, the Brehon Laws, and the broader European context (including the King of Spain’s role) in which these events unfolded. Hear the personal stories of endurance and resilience that proved the spirit of the Gael could not be broken.
Event starts at 11am.
