Dogs seized by wardens
A total of 66 dogs were surrendered or seized by Tipperary Co Council dog wardens up to April 30 of this year.
The council's June meeting was informed that 37 of that number were sent to rescue shelters. Ten of the dogs were reclaimed by their owners and three were rehomed. Eleven were put to sleep.
The number of dog licenses purchased up to April 30 this year was 2,638. A total of 55 XL Bully Certificates of Exemption were issued to owners looking to keep their dogs. It became illegal to own an XL Bully without a certificate of exemption on February 1.
